Restoration is the action of returning to a place or condition
This time around the holidays can unsettle the soul and then having to navigate through every day life on top of it, can send anyone into a tail spin! During this time we often can loose sight of our needs therefore, leaving us feeling depleted, frayed around the edges and completely stressed out. Sometimes, we can find ourselves in that predicament even without the garland of holidays looping around our heads and we forget the significance in personal solitude. In those moments, we can say we're seeking restoration for our bodies, our minds, our emotions or spirit. We can categorize the need but the end result is the same, that is a need to return back to what is natural to us or to simply reconnect. In this instance, the idea of restoration becomes a calling out, a reason to get back to that state we remember and desire ourselves to be. And so we seek to do, to discover, to figure out what that is or whom is that person inside that we need to recover and/or re-discover.
"I woke up out of sorts, I just didn't feel quite in alignment. I've been trying to move forward into my soul's highest and greatest potentials yet I take a few steps and feel blocked or confused, unsure about what to do next." I started pulling out all my books, researching terms and ways, seeking counsel inside, outside, even got down on my knees with tears streaming down my face and prayed-
Then I sat in the wind, watching the leaves roll by in every direction unscathed by this unseen supposed chaos swirling about the atmosphere. There was no fight, debate, or protest the leaves just moved according to the direction of the wind and the wind, didn't focus solely on the leaves, it just weaved in and out and through any available space presented to it. I watched this interaction and relaxed, took a deep breath because fresh air brings fresh perspective and the sun was warm. The air was a touch cold on the edges of my skin but the sky was blue and mostly clear. There were even little spots of quiet clouds just motioning through the sky, gliding along a calm pace going nowhere in particular. I was in such a rush to find restoration, to understand what it means inside me that it wasn't until I put the books down, laid the search to rest, and sat among it all that I could feel the affects of returning and remember, what it means to come home.
What I learned is that restoration represents; a relaxing into the flow of life, a freedom of movement into the available spaces presented, a reminder to relax, breath deep because fresh air brings fresh perspective, to be clear about where you want to go then let the inner calm guide you without having any place or destination in particular, to trust your inner knowledge and to sit with what already exists inside you to inspire you, to move you, to accept that what you need to feel balanced, connected, and whole is waiting for you because "home" doesn't have a definition or end result, it just is and already exists inside you perfectly-perfect, we only need to come back to it. It's that simple.
Allow yourself to carve out some special time to devote purely to yourself to check in and find the stillness inside/around you to discover those meaningful moments of home.
