WHY I READ POETRY
I read poetry because I want to fall in love. I want to feel my way through the subtle energies and vulnerabilities of life. I want to experience the desperation, the yearning and sadness of others, the joys and passions of moments fleeting and otherwise those life altering choices and outcomes, good or bad or indifferent, it doesn’t matter because I want to feel.
I want to feel full spectrum, break a part, die and crack open awake, to be reborn again from a single page, a sentence or word. I want to see through someone else’s eyes and walk in their shoes to truly know their heart and in so doing, recognize my own. I want to know life when it smacks me in the face and understand with every fiber of my being, that I’m okay...
I want to surrender, to just sit gently immersed in the moments of living and remember that I’m always deeply rooted and ever still connected. Poetry to me is a life line into divinity. It is the explosion of truth, an internal vision made manifest, the access into the universe in great or small wonders. It is the collision of intellect and instinct and heart and the sudden impact of being alive! It is the sweet, sweetness of soul that makes you wake up another day and say, I can do this...
