EMOTIONAL PURGING
8 PEAKS AND POINTS TO REMEMBER
1- Remind yourself there’s nothing for you to do except, breathe, feel, and accept your experience during emotional ups and downs. Afterwards, be sure to care for yourself differently, in a more supportive and attentive way. This will quicken the process and prevent anything from getting re-stuck.
2- Remember, emotion is just energy. Emotions themselves are not target problems or behaviors. They’re simply sensations you feel inside your body that inform your next steps. Allow yourself to observe your flow of energy and feel the associated feelings so you can receive a new understanding without adding or attaching an old story to it. The process is to release stuck emotion so more energy is available to you.
3- Observe when you are intellectualizing or judging your experience rather than just feeling it. The mind can re-play old content, making it difficult to release the old and integrate the new. Be mindful rather than intellectual.
4- Begin a practice where you can feel into your body daily. Connect with yourself in real time in an authentic way. The inner critic often feels safer when dragging you back to what’s familiar to you, even, if what’s comfortable harms you. So, be curious and available to yourself when you notice self judgements, criticisms, and a general lack of self-acceptance, shame or self-loathing coming through. Observing without involving yourself will better support a clearer, more cleansing release.
5- Be mindful that emotional purging can also have a physical detox experience along with it. i.e., pain, feeling under the weather or just not like yourself, or even sleep disturbances. The inner judge, critic, and perfectionist wait to pounce when we feel this way. Simply, follow your flow of energy, get sleep when you can and change the critic’s story by using supportive and reassuring language. Allow yourself to rest, nourish, and flourish within the transitions. Listen to your body not your mind and go back to the practice of being present in your body.
6- As old parts of you dissolve, you can feel disoriented, overwhelmed, confused, chaotic, depressive or even empty. Emotional purging can bring up a feeling of impatience, avoidance or even a temporary loss of identity. Remember, you’re healing and will no longer live life the way you did so, you will experience a temporary, unfamiliar place in space but you will bounce back stronger. This clear space is essential for creating the new life as you shift into the person you are re-membering and re-establishing to be.
7- As you change so will your reality. Old friends may leave, we may stop talking with or entertaining thoughts around certain family members. You may find events change suddenly as new relationships and circumstances come in. This is the transition from old ways to renewed ways, embrace it.
8- Lastly, sometimes doubt or loss of trust creeps into the cleansing process and into you. Life will test you so you can practice inside your healing. Trust yourself. Trust your process. Trust your path. The Universe gives you opportunities to practice what you’re learning so you can witness your growth and feel your power! Remember, you have everything you need to transform and evolution is a natural human phase of integration and new growth so, welcome it in.

Jennifer
