You Never Said Goodbye...
You never said goodbye...
No word, no sound.
Just drifted quietly inward
into dirty river blues,
wearing yesterday's
dark debris and murky weed
draped and drawn,
upon your shoreline.
But your fixed frame
kept firm,
laughing and lounging
at the edge of denial
just waiting,
to stake your claim
among your avid admirers.
You seem tired,
holding up integrity
bobbing and weaving
in ripples of green sickness
immersed, in cloudy grey
charcoal character.
- CLOSED OFF -
To freshwater rain
and otherwise, a nuisance
to wise and steady on-lookers.
Perhaps, you think food
for like-minded ship worms?
But more so,
a foundation decomposed,
yellow sand quickens,
escapes time
like annual growth rings
eventually, fade into echoes.
You are a delinquent maze
of attractions - distractions
it ‘s way too difficult,
to find my way inside those
irregular grooves and unstable paths
I can't speak in silence-
You never said goodbye…
(Taken by the girl)
You took advantage!
She doesn’t sense your cunning
influence, your feeble charms.
The snake is awake, she said-
You crawl and slither,
your underbelly calloused and torn,
you can’t stand in truth!
No, you lie cold and undetected,
submerged. in the recurring
nightmare.
You rest in the dark cavity,
behind absent black eyes-
Watch your step they said,
don’t provoke the nest.
The predator,
stings through broken teeth,
confusion catches caterpillars
before they bloom.
He’s got you in his mouth,
a mouth full of himself-
He's incapable of saying anything.
So, I'll say it for him-
