EMOTIONAL PURGING
THE PEAK POINT OF HEALING
The thought of healing can conjure up quite a bit of emotion in a person that’s been hurting for a long time. We want to heal and we want it now. However, that kind of thinking creates expectations not natural to the state of healing and the deeper connections that helps us transform.
Some believe, a healing experience should be instant with the immediate absence of physical or emotional discomfort, that requires no effort on their part moving forward.
Nobody really tells you this but sometimes the healing hurts more than the wound. There are stages to healing like there are stages to growth and all of which, can be temporarily uncomfortable, even painful as we regain our natural state in being. As you begin to repair the modes of survival, the nervous system recalibrates and the differences between can feel foreign. You might notice you want to sleep more or are not feeling up to doing things you once liked. You might even feel unsure about your direction and find yourself at a standstill. This part of transitioning in the healing process can have you feel disoriented and thoughts can be more self-critical than nurturing. You start questioning yourself or wonder if somehow you missed the mark.
I believe, the healing experience is rooted in resolving emotional trauma. E-motion is energy in motion and makes up your inner source and well-spring of energy, you either allow it to fuel you forward or you hold it back. It’s your personal, internal barometer system that informs you about the quality of your energy, personal interactions, and gives you impactful experiences that you’ll never forget.
The human habit is to not feel, especially, when what we feel doesn’t feel good. We’ve learned safety measures to help us cope by using blocking strategies like suppression, rejection, and disconnection. Inadvertently, those gestures retraumatize the wound in the most potent and precious portion of therapeutic potentials. The healing practice is to unlock held in or held back emotional content which, will naturally release wound trauma energy, (i.e., shaking) and its associated feeling, (i.e., disappointment). This means, what you’re working to clear will re-appear, and even, intensify so you can understand how to accept the wound differently, in a more compassionate and nurturing way.
Emotional purging is the process of eliminating emotions that become harmful to you and your life when contained over time, (i.e., anger, grief, resentment, sadness, hurt, loss). The purge is the peak point, the most powerful part of the healing experience. There is a gain in the release and you begin the journey back to your natural state and flow. You get a chance to witness locked-in emotions and feel their specific energetic signature. This allows the pain to be heard in a safe space, in its natural state, so you can truly let it go and free your energetic flow.
Become available to your whole-self, the most essential, integrative part of the clearing and cleansing process. Understand that even the most uncomfortable stages of healing are part of the natural process of release, repair, and integration. It will settle and you will feel more space in your body along with, a new energetic vibration you can rest assured in.
